How UnitVO prevents double-booking using half-open [arrival, departure) intervals, handles date-change quotes, and maintains integer minor-unit folios.

1. Half-Open Nightly Interval Holds [arrival, departure)

UnitVO's CapacityLedger models stays as half-open date intervals [arrival, departure) expanded into discrete room-nights:

  • A guest departing on 2026-05-12 and another guest arriving on 2026-05-12 share zero overlapping nights and both succeed cleanly.
  • Multi-night holds are acquired atomically: if night 3 of a 4-night stay is sold out or blocked by maintenance, nights 1 and 2 are rolled back immediately so no partial hold leaks capacity.

2. Quote & Change Preparation

Through Booking & Folio Desk or the MCP tools booking.get_quote and booking.prepare_change, guests can price new stays, extensions, or late checkouts. Rate rules support seasonal pricing, taxes, fees, and approval thresholds.

3. Integer Minor-Unit Folio Accounting

All financial calculations and folio ledger entries (room charges, VAT/municipality fees, incidental charges, security deposits, and refunds) are stored and summed in integer minor units (e.g., fils/cents, where AED 1,250.00 = 125000) to eliminate floating-point rounding drift.
